Description

The CO2 bags from Bonsanto have been specially developed for the Mini-Grow-Box. They enable fast cultivation and increased yield. Overall, the bags improve the growing conditions and stabilise the plant down to the roots.

Why CO2 Bags?

Every plant needs carbon dioxide to grow - or in technical terms: to convert the chlorophyll in the leaves. Therefore, the CO2 bags are perfect to accelerate the growth of your plants and strengthen the health of the plant.

Important: The CO2 bags are absolutely harmless and non-toxic. The amount of CO2 produced is not sufficient to pose a hazard to humans.

What is carbon dioxide?

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an odorless and non-toxic gas that occurs naturally in soil, air and water. Plants absorb CO2 through photosynthesis, producing oxygen as a waste product. Without sufficient amounts of carbon dioxide, plants cannot produce enough nutrients to reach their full size and potential.

How long can you use CO2 Bags?

A Bonsanto carbon dioxide bag lasts about 3 weeks. You can therefore use the set of 2 for around 6 weeks. WHAT DO CO2 Bags REALLY DO in the Mini Growbox?

Photosynthesis

Before we start with the topic of CO2, we should make a short excursion to photosynthesis. Photosynthesis takes place in plants of all species. It means that with the help of sunlight, carbon dioxide (CO2) and nutrients in the soil, the plant grows or flowers. This process produces oxygen and sugar. The plant releases the oxygen directly into the environment.

The right general conditions

When all three components (sunlight, CO2 and nutrients) are available in their "maximum" form, the plant will produce the highest possible yield. Bonsanto soil and our LED light, prepare in the Mini Grow Box already the best conditions in terms of sunlight and nutrients. Air contains an average of 400 ppm CO2  (PPM is a metric to define the CO2 concentration). If we increase this natural value in the Mini Grow Box, we can correspondingly increase the yield or the speed of cultivation in the Mini Grow Box. This is due to a stronger photosynthesis.

Specific measured values from the past

• An increase from 400 PPM to 500 PPM accelerates growth by 25%. This means you can save 2 1/2 weeks of growing time. (With 10 weeks of growing time from germination to harvest).

• An increase from 400 PPM to 700 PPM accelerates growth up to 40 percent. (Yield +10%)

• An increase from 400 PPM to 1000 PPM accelerates growth up to 50 percent. (Yield +25%)

How much PPM do the CO2 bags from Bonsanto yield?

The Bonsanto CO2 bags bring a concentration of 900-1000 PPM in the Mini Grow Box during the first four days. From day 5, the concentration drops to 800 PPM and then levels off at 700 PPM by day 10-14.

What needs to be considered?

1. When CO2 is added, the plant needs more nutrients. This means that you have to fertilise regularly. You should also provide sufficient water.
2. CO2 affects the plant only during the day, but not at night. Means that seeds are more suitable, which need 18h light. This allows you to better exploit the effect of the CO2 bags.

How to maximize the benefits?

To maximise the benefits of CO2 bags, you should make sure that your grow box is sufficiently ventilated to ensure a constant exchange of air. This prevents a build-up of CO2 so that the plants receive sufficient oxygen. Also, only use the bags for a limited period of time, as they no longer release a sufficient amount of carbon dioxide after around 3 weeks. Replace the bags in good time to ensure that the plants continue to receive sufficient CO2.
